The next-door property owner complained air conditioners and construction traffic encroach on her lot, her landscaping was destroyed, her shed was damaged, and asked who would be liable if the variances were approved.

The owner of 177 Beachcomber Lane said the applicant is an experienced home flipper, detailed property damage and trespass during construction, and warned the short parking pad forces pedestrians into the street, creating liability risks.

He argued the surveyor should have double-checked the pin against town records, and that the builder — as general contractor — bears ultimate responsibility for verifying the house's placement.
